Intellectual Property Strategy

An intellectual property strategy is a critical first step to success in business.  Simple or complex, the best strategy begins early in the research and development process of your business plan.

An IP Strategy is important to achieving business goals. IP strategy may include deciding what IP is important to protect, whether to file a patent, where to file patents, or how to structure IP ownership. Other options include protecting the IP as a trade secret or publicly disclosing the IP to prevent someone else from getting a patent.  IP strategy is not limited to patents—it can apply to trademarks, copyrights, contracts and almost any other business-related effort.

At RM IP Law, we specialize in strategic planning and work with our clients to develop a right-sized intellectual property strategy.  Obviously, starting early is always best, but strategic planning can be done at many insertion points over the lifecycle of your business plan.
